I was mislead by this movie. I mean it in a good way. I was mislead in a way that its not really what I thought it is. What I knew about Elvis was very limited. I know that he is the King of rock n’ roll, his daughter was Michael Jackson’s ex-wife, he went to military, and that he is famous for his song “Can’t help falling in love with you”, the things I know were basic, the ones that the majority of people does. Watching this movie made me learn a whole bunch of new things about this guy, his passion in his music, his love for his Family, and the dreams that he had for them, he have achieved it all, it is a tragic story, a story that millions of people will learn from, a story that will enchant with Elvis’ charisma not only on stage but with just having that killer smile and the eyes that sparkles in each blink. I did not rally expect anything special when I sat on the cinema reclining chair, all I know is that I hope they would give justice about telling Elvis’ life on the big screen.
Elvis have grown to be a very good looking man, I know we could all agree to that. I mean his eyes, his lips, there is just something about the way he moves to that could pull every woman’s attention, I believe that’s why his hip movements while singing wooed a lot of women back then though it was considered vulgar I am impressed by it the guy knows how to use his hip that’s for sure. 😉 Austin Butler played his role very well, hands down to that guy for doing so much effort learning Elvis’ talking voice, the moves and all main things that signifies Elvis, Austin is just a perfect fit for this role he made the movie great! When I learned that the movie is going to be an almost 3-hour entertainment, I did not think that it would be too much since I personally think Elvis’ story deserves to be known more, I actually thought it’s a bit short :p

And also how can I forget about Tom Hanks portrayal in this movie of Colonel Tom Parker, Elvis’ talent manager. Colonel obviously was the antagonist in the movie and at the same time the storyteller of it, according to the movie he had Elvis’ overworked, made him his personal money making machine and when Elvis wanted out of under Colonel’s hands he made sure that there is no other way for him to go but back to him. I can’t lie though, he gave me the creep the whole entire time, the greediness, the selfishness, and the guy don’t even have a proper citizenship in short he was an alien the entire time. Now this is the part where you would thank the modernization of the society because nowadays you cannot just easily pull off tricks like this unless you are into spending time in jail. We can’t deny the fact that he is good at what he does, marketing, PR, he got the talent for that, besides, Elvis would not be Elvis today without the Colonel. He got the wit and the connections, the man just have problems, I mean we all do but not all of us end up just like him or we hope not to.
To those who have watched the movie, I think we could all agree that Elvis had his life all messed up when his mom had passed. He blamed himself for not being there, he wanted nothing but to make his mama proud and to provide her the riches in life such as a pink Cadillac, I mean I’ll have one too please 😉 Kidding aside, Elvis deserved way better than what he got during the last few years of his career. I don’t know what else to say about this but losing a parent you are close enough to can easily ruin your focus in life, I know that for a fact because I have been in that situation, as someone like Elvis who have lost that someone who have supported him all throughout his career is like losing one leg and can’t perform right. Elvis was a good husband, a good father, and a good son, he struggled life despite of having the fame and use the wrong option to cope with it. A short live career but a long live legacy to be told the next upcoming generation, that is Elvis.
